First Point of Light
First point of light “Futile Futile Futile” Yes… Those three mighty words that only had one meaning Different order but of one essence Year 2005, a philosophy teacher, introduced me to six men who had themselves kept alived for centuries through their ideologies three other men who never found themselves to be the cornerstones of a futile religion “philosopy” three other men who further inquired the inevitable and reached the greatest ending there is - “another question”. Cheers! (this is me smiling sarcastically) Futile Futile Futile These three mighty words i am singing I sang after writing a poem titled “Reason” denying the existence of God, getting broke, humiliated, getting kicked out of school [omitted some words ^^, original copy in ink, nothing beats ink ^^] Only at that time had i realized A man who eagerly looks at what he has on the right hand Does not see what he has on the left hand The presence of the right hand Blinds the man of the existence of the left hand Likewise, A husband who loves his wife Is not distracted by another woman The presence of his love for the wife Blinds the husband of the existence of another woman A man who admires too much the toil of his hands Blinds the man of the existence of a rock There he falls Such is that with the world The presence of the earth Blinds the man of the existence of a great power Likewise, the man who seeks only to hear himself and to prove himself The proud, the braggart, the loud Blinds the man of the existence of reality For he only sees himself A man who only looks up Will only see the stars in the sky But never the rocks on the ground A man who only looks below Will only see the rocks on the ground But never the stars in the sky A man will never see both the stars and rocks If the man is to look only once I have seen my stars and rocks but my shadow remained elusive At time, i had seen my shadow But my heart remained unseen I looked for my heart… Searched only to find out its thirst… I looked for water… Looked behind the mountains… Stood atop a tree… Found a river But never had a bottle empty… I emptied my bottle… Filled it with the river water… But the heart dried the river… It was quenched… But it was still thirsty… Then again the search begins… Again and again and again… Only then have i seen The words of a King coming to life “It was all a meaningless chase after the wind” “Rivers flow into the oceans Yet oceans never fill” There in the search I found The nature of man Enjoying and worrying Loving and hating Winning and loosing Toil and reaping “All meaningless, a chase after the wind” For light to exist Darkness must be ceased For darkness to exist Light must be ceased A land can never be both day and night A man who has everything Carries the burden of all things A man who owns nothing Carries no burden of things but the burden of having none I see this in this world A man who holds a bag of coins in his hand Is a man who holds the burden of carrying the bag in his hand While a man who holds no coin in his hand Is a man who does not enjoy the company of a bag in his hand Futile Futile Futile The fate of both man who holds and who does not Has a similar ending What is there to brag? What is there to be envious? I have seen a man who says “I, handsomest, talented, most wise and intelligent, possessing the treasures of the world, is more significant than the rest” Pity the man who says he is above the rest. He has been played fool by the devil, The angels mock him at his delusions. Bald are men born. Corpse shall they all turn. God alone judges, wether we be with him, or let us simply burn. One says “Look! He has gold and precious gems!” “He can have everything the heart desires” “Look! He is the handomest in the land!” “Fair maidens are attracted to him” “Look! He is wisest in the land” “Man come to him in search of advice” “Look! A man he is, strong as an ox” “He wears belts and trophies of gold” A probable near future says “Look! He struggles to keep them!” “Look! He dies to keep them!” “Look! He struggles to be wisest!” “Look! He dies to be strongest!” A probable future says “You are despised, you have nothing” “You are old, you have become ugly” “You are a fool, you have led us to ruin” “You are weak, you have been beaten” Futile Futile Futile From two men alone, i have heard these words One led me to mitigate the path One led me to a finish line The first one is right So as the other one For this is also what i have seen There is no such thing as right and wrong Only those that are seen in light Those that are not seen in the dark remains unseen Until given light In my eyes “I see a wolf who kills to feed the cubs” In my eyes “I see a lamb ready to bite like a wolf when it is in danger” In my eyes “i see a mother who is ready to shoot when her baby is in danger” For which is wrong For which is right Both are wrong Both are right There is no such thing as right and wrong Only those that are seen in light Those that are not seen in the dark remains unseen Until given light I have also seen this, Men has caused itself to be wisest in the art of self deceit One says “I will kill you if you dare hurt my people” “I will earn blood money so i can help my people” “I will tire my body endlessly so i can feed my family” “I will follow you to the depths because i love you” “I am doing this so i can survive, live to see that there is hope in the world” Man’s ingenuity, as seen in Adam, leads men To be the greatest In justifying actions, showing the ends to their means Proving their actions just, right and true This words as well as mine, A product Of self deceit In another term, As said by a King, vanity Out of self-love I myself dire to prove things wrong that i… myself am right What is their to prove? What is their to debates? What is their to long and tireless conversations? When another man does not wish to hear Or when the man only seeks to prove himself and never desires to learn Will it not be like two walls ramming each other Two hard objects on their way to collision The stronger their will to prove themselves right The stronger the impact For i have seen people bang their heads on wall Banging and banging Fighting and fighting Then bleeding without seeing Dying without feeling I also saw in this world The world, a vast matter occupied by space and other matters which also occupies space A man’s head almost as half a size and hard as a standard sized hollow block 30 X 20 X 15 Can it contain all the equations of the world? Can it understand fully everything? A computer hard disk is a limited storage medium A letter to a loved one has its limits For everything that takes up space is a matter And space inside a matter is always limited Science explains itself Is the mind an exception of such a rule? As been said “Futile” Can a man really justify fully his own actions? Prove himself to be right? The world being as vast as it is And the mind limited as it is, Like a puzzle Can one see the picture fully When the puzzle pieces are incomplete If a man sees a man talking to him… is a man able to understand? if he sees and does not lend an ear? is a man able to justify? if he hears and does not open an eye? Questions and answers, I searched, Questioned but seldom uttered a word, For what does a man, 22 in age, know? A man may live up a hundred years But could never travel the oceans of the world with his feet Nor measure the vastness of the oceans with his fingers Nor fathom its depths with a mind that could only contain a miniscule amount of water Knowing that, I then borrowed the eyes and ears of the keen Listened and seldom uttered a word Laid a shelter in the shadows For i am a man who knew few And what does a man who knew few Have to tell? 2007 i met and heard the words of a wise king and the greatest king that was after him. Alas! the clouds wenched The branching roads The mists Have gone there in the fields with the winds and grass swaying there stood the answer not a man but God way, truth, light The conclusion to all the futility of the whole matter answered by the Son of God “love” For in love, the spirit rejoices though the body grows weary The Son of Man’s body grew weary But amidst all, He was happy Final words: If you have found my words to be of reality, i welcome you! You can only find a meaningful life through God! No man could answer questions the way that God answers them!
